The Plea – Audio Captures

Added 6/1/13: “Feel It Ticking” from London Gig Guide

2013-06-01_LGG
They’re promoting the Dublin Castle gig, which is long since past, but the DJ does say that it’s his favorite track of the week, so thought I’d include it here. :)

Added 5/3/13: Phone Interview from 4/29 – Radio Nova 100 – Marty Miller

Dermot Doherty - The Plea - Radio Nova - Marty MillerSaw on Facebook yesterday that The Plea was thanking all of the radio stations that they did their promo bits with them this week, and as they’re rattling them off, noticed that Radio Nova with Marty was on the list. Didn’t remember seeing that one as one of their events before, so naturally, had to drop Marty Miller a note and see if I’d missed it or if it was airing soon. Had a response already by the time I woke up. :) Turns out it had aired Monday night in his 6pm slot, and he sent me the URL back to the page to find the listen again link, with a podcast hopefully coming soon. Y’all know me, I hate to wait. Played it, found it, saved it, uploaded it. :) It’s a short (about 3 minutes, 20 seconds) phone interview with Dermot. Marty plays back a bit of when Denny and Dermot were in the studio with them previously, which I’m pretty sure is one of the first Plea audio captures I’ve done. Scroll down to the page to nearly the bottom, it’s the recording from June 2012. :)

Phone interview with Dermot:

Added 5/2/13: RTE1 – Pat Kenny Show from 5/1.

20130501_The Plea_RTEstudio01Thought they were supposed to be airing at something like 4:30 my time, turns out they weren’t on until the end of the show, at about 6:45. Then my PC recorder crapped out on me, recorded all the earlier stuff, but missed when The Plea played. Fortunately I was also recording from the radio app on my phone and got it that way instead. And at least for the moment, it’s still on Pat Kenny’s show page at RTE1.

Here’s the complete interview, including the live in the studio versions of Oh Ah Yay and Glass Waltz:

Added 4/30/13: Phantom FM Interview

The Plea Phantom FM Oh Ah YayThis one aired between 5 and 6AM here this morning, so got up, started recording it, went back to bed. No time to split it out into Interview/Song before work this AM, but here is the unedited complete version. Stick around after “Oh Ah Yay” for the Morning Quiz. Pretty funny. Remember guys, everything is made up and the points don’t matter. Wait, that’s “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” LOL.

Holy crap! Just noticed that my page “likes” jumped up from 16 to 69 over night! Wow. Thanks guys! It was the Bieber clip that did it, I know. Everyone loves Bieber. *cough cough cough* ;-)

Added 4/29/13 (Y’all are keeping me BUSY this week!)
98FM Dublin – Dermot & Dave:

98FM Dublin - The Plea - Justin Bieber[spacer height="20px"]This morning, the Dermot and Denny show joined the Dermot and Dave show for another interview, NO “Oh Ah Yay” this time; they DID reveal and play their chosen pop cover for the morning, which DID turn out to be a Bieber tune, “Beauty and a Beat”. Had tried listening to the original the other day, had to shut it off after about 30 seconds, so wasn’t sure what to expect from The Plea’s version. Cool It rocked. I guess the only way to get me to listen to a Bieber tune all the way through is have Denny and Dermot do it.

Pretty entertaining interview all the way around, from the offers to swap out 98FM DJs Dermot and Dave for The Plea’s Dermot and Dave, to the anagrams (“He-Plate”? :D When Dermot – think it was Dermot, they were all kind of talking at once there – mentioned Skeletor, I cracked up, that’s what I call Callista Flockhart, hahaha! *snort*), and talking about the Glass Waltz video (“The video is both hilarious and disturbing…””Just like the actor!”) Great fun.

Added 4/28/13: Dermot and Denny on 4FM Classic Hits:

4FM Classic Hits Ireland - The PleaAnother radio station appearance this afternoon, at 4FM Classic Hits. Yay, one that I was actually home for, that was NOT in the wee hours of the morning. We like those kind. ;-) This one clocked in at nearly 18 minutes, and included a lengthy interview plus TWO songs this time (“Oh Ah Yay” and *woot!* the new song “World Away”). “World Away” was a nice addition to the radio studio set list; up until now have only heard that one via the YouTube video that someone shot at Dublin Castle.

Added 4/26/13: Denny and Dermot on OceanFM Donegal Town:

OceanFM Ocean Drive Shane Smyth The Plea

The Plea added this one as an event on Facebook this morning (one of several new ones), and I looked at the date and went “April 26? Wait, that’s TODAY!” Once again it was something else scheduled right in the middle of my work day, but got lucky today, we were doing a video shoot in the office at 1PM, so I was asked if I minded taking my lunch from 12-1, so I was able to pull up OceanFM on my phone and was able to record it that way. Denny and Dermot came on at 12:45 and finished right at 1pm, as my lunch hour was officially ending. I just love it when a plan comes together.

Here’s the complete interview, including another Live in the Studio version of “Oh Ah Yay”:

And for those who can’t handle hearing “Oh Ah Yay” yet again (Not sure, but I think I’VE collected nearly enough Live in the Studio versions of the song to just about make an entire CD of nothing but that! Name of the EP would, of course, be “Nothin’ But Oh Ah Yay” LOL), here it is again, with just the interview:

And for those who just want to hear another version of “Oh Ah Yay” live in the studio, I’ve got that too:

Added 4/24/13: Dermot and Denis on the Alan Simpson Show on BBC Radio Ulster

The Plea BBC Radio UlsterThe Plea BBC Radio Ulster Denny Doherty Dermot Doherty

Looks like D&D are making the rounds of a few radio stations this week; caught the first one on that I’ve seen so far (BBC Radio Ulster) via their tweet earlier today. The whole thing in its entirety runs just shy of 18 minutes, and includes the single of “Glass Waltz”, followed by the interview, which is then followed by Denny and Dermot performing “Oh Ah Yay” live in the studio. I know I keep quoting this bit, but it makes me lol every time. “Turn it up, and annoy the neighbors, and watch the bellybutton fluff just bounce out.” :D

Here’s the whole 17:31 of it from start to finish for those who want to hear the entire thing unedited:

Or you can hear just the interview here:

And/or just the live studio version of “Oh Ah Yay” here:

Have made inquiries as to the air dates of some of the others, so more to come as I find them!

Added 3/3/13: Denis and Dermot on “WDRMusikclub”

The full clip, from opening song to closing song runs just shy of 9 minutes. For those who just want to hear the short bits with just Denny and Dermot, including an edited version as well, which only includes their 1 minute and 15 seconds of airtime. :)

Full Clip:

Edited Clip
(including an extra wee bit that Andreas Zimmer sent me that wasn’t part of the aired interview. I’d said to him that I adored “Denny and Dermot’s Donegal accents and could just listen to them talk for hours” and so he was kind enough to edit down a bit from the interview where they’re talking about exactly that. “I found a bit of time to edit this said part of the interview… about american women/girls and european accents. the question was something liken: i’ve heard that american girls would really love european accents… true? And that’s the answer.” So I added that one to end of the edited clip as kind of epilogue. :) )

Added 12/31/12: The Plea on RTE 2XM Culture Cafe

Don’t know where Google has been hiding them all this time, but just found these from back in May 2012.

11 Minute Interview with Dermot:

A great 11 minute long phone interview with Dermot from May 16th that I’d not heard before:

“Oh Ah Yay”, it gots airplay!:

And from May 30th – Oh Ah Yay got airplay! No clever DJ comments this time, although since this was an archived podcast, they may have done some editing on it. (ie: like with Dermot’s interview, they were supposed to play Oh Ah Yay after his interview then as well, but it got lopped from the podcast.)

Added 12/27/12:
The Plea – “Send It Out” on BFBS Radio…

Google FINALLY registered that Send It Out got airplay on BFBS Radio this month, and it showed up in the search ONE day before it was scheduled to go OFFline from the Listen Again section of their website. I grabbed it from site before it left, and uploaded it to include here.

Here is the Music Player. You need to installl flash player to show this cool thing!

…& “Oh Ah Yay” on the Bob Harris show on BBC Radio 2

Also, some quick eyed/eared people found that Oh Ah Yay got airplay on BBC Radio 2, on the Bob Harris show this month as well, so raced over to the provided link and grabbed that too. Airplay is always a good thing, even if he DID call the song “Oh Ay Yay”, lol! At least he called it “one of the best singles of the year”, even if he got the name wrong. ;-)

You can also find both songs, and others here on the page, in the playlist of the new player in the sidebar over yonder to the right.

Added 12/10/12: The Plea – “Staggers Anthem” on BFBS Radio

In case you missed it, Staggers Anthem made it onto BFBS Radio back on 11/18. It stayed on their Listen Again section for a week, but is most likely gone now. So while it was there, I saved it and finally have time to add it here on the audio page. Pretty much just the song, although I did keep the DJ comment at the end with its wee dig at Coldplay: “…does sound a bit like Coldplay in places, doesn’t it? The beat in particular. But it’s a good song all the same…” :D Not quite as funny as “fvck you stupid loser band” in the Durango Sessions clip below, but still a good one, lol.

Added 10/14/12: The Plea – “Jolie Louise” on Soundcloud

Not an audio capture per se this time, but it’s such a cool song, I just installed the soundcloud WP plug in specifically so I could add it to the audio page here. It’s apparently been online for the last 10 days, but I never saw it. Thanks to my twin up in Canadaland for spotting it and sharing it in all my usual haunts, or I’d have missed it.  Give it a listen. I’m a’likin’ it a LOT! ♥♫

And I know this is technically a YouTube video, but since it’s been subtitled in both English and French, thought it would be nice to put it here for a little Babelfish style translation assistance. :) Here’s Daniel Lanois’ original version of “Jolie Louise” :

Added 8/18/12:

Per The Plea’s FB page comment:
“Durango Sessions op Radio Benelux start het programma om 20u00 met OH AH YAY”.

Ummm… it’s all Greek to me. :D But one did NOT have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that Radio Benelux in Belgium was going to open their Durango Sessions with “Oh Ah Yay” at 8:00 their time, which since I finally used my handy dandy timey-wimey converter to figure out the time diff between Belgium and here, that meant it was going to air at 2pm here. So naturally, I recorded it. Have no idea what was said about it before or after, although the one line of English DID come through loud and clear when the f-bomb was dropped. Really hope that the reference to “Fvck you stupid loser band” was NOT directed at The Plea. LOL. Fairly certain it wasn’t but was still a bit of a shock, with the FCC keeping US commercial radio stations in line,  that’s not something you hear on a standard radio station every day here. :D

Have a listen. Kept a little of the intro, the song (starts out with applause, is that just something they do at the start of the Durango Sessions, or was this a live version of the song, I wonder?), and then that outro. May be the only time that “Oh Ah Yay” gets an R rating for language. LOL

Added 6/30/12:

After seeing the list of radio stations that The Plea thanked for having them on in Part 4 of their Tour Diary, given that I’d only heard interviews from two of those, I googled the hell out of the rest of the stations, most of whom did not have easily searchable listen back/podcast options. And the ones that did, well, I wasn’t finding the band in any of them. So I emailed them all. Yes, the entire lot of them. Not THAT hard to do though, copy/paste has been my keyboard friend for years. :) Got a response back from one station last Sunday night already, telling me that they’d be on that night. Alas, I didn’t see the email until an hour after the show was over *facepalm*, and no podcast that I could see showed up on the site after the fact. Several days go by and I figured the rest of my emails just got round-filed (ie trashed) by their respective stations and that I’d not hear back from any of the others.

“It’s a cracker of a tune!”

Check my mail on Thursday. Lo and behold. A response from FlirtFM in Galway. And not only a response, but they were actually kind enough to attach the podcast mp3 to the email, so I didn’t even have to go back to the radio station to track it down. Sounds to be a phone-in interview with Dermot, runs just under 6 minutes. Stops kind of suddenly so get the feeling it might not be the entire thing, but happy to have however much was actually recorded. Thanks to FlirtFM for being one of only two stations to get back with me AND actually send the podcast to me. Greatly appreciated.

Added 6/21/12 -  Oh Ah Yaaaay! New content at last! The podcast of Denny & Dermot’s interview on Nova 100 from last week before they played their show at Whelan’s , starting with another rendition of “Oh Ah Yay”. I love when artists perform their songs live in the radio studio, and The Plea be no exception.  (But is it just me, or does that lampshade in the corner behind the bongos look like a huge roll of toilet paper? LOL! “Please don’t squeeze the lampshade!” Sorry, yes, I know I notice weird things. :D )

A
few more added 6/17/12: One of these days I’m going to  check for the latest You Tube videos for The Plea, and I’m going to keel over because there will actually be  an actual live video from one of the Plea’s recent Irish shows. Kinda wish they’d gone with a slightly more unique name (“Jacob’s Plea” is a good one, IMHO! ;) ), so when I checked for new video uploads, I wouldn’t keep pulling up so much NON Plea stuff.

In any case, here’s the audio from the 2 RTE Session videos (love this version of “Windchime,” how they caught Denny’s chuckle in the second verse), “Send It Out” in Ghent, and what do you know, “Oh Ah Yay” again! :D

6/14/12 Edit: Nothing really new to add to the site (no new radio shows, no new YouTube live videos *sigh*), so will have to just make the site update up as I go along. ;-) Went through my Plea video collection last weekend, and all the videos that I’ve put on the site that have different versions of the songs than are on Dreamers Stadium, I made MP3s of the audio. That way if y’all want to hear them without watching the video to save on some bandwidth and/or mb on your data plans, that’ll be an option. :) Song titles are also multitasking as “right click save as” download links if you want to take them to go. 6/11/12 Edit: *sigh* TWO missed radio appearances now. PhantomFM and Highland Radio. Guess I’m spoiled, I’m so used to the Barrowman webteam posting on the site several days to several weeks in advance when JB is going to be making appearances (yay team! :) ), so I always know in advance when I’ve got to wake up at the crack of early to set a recorder. Sometimes a couple of times in the same night, LOL. What can I say, I’m a webgeek; if I’m going to do a site, I want to do it right, and really prefer to use stuff I’ve recorded myself when I can, even if it means getting up at 1:30, again at 3:30 to record a different station, and again at 6:00 to tiptoe past the geolocks and switch to yet another station. Oh well, I’ll just get what I get, when they’re able to let us know in advance. :)

TodayFM – The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show 6/8/2012

The Plea on TodayFM Sweet! My first band audio capture. Hopefully the first of many. Saw on The Plea’s ” American Fans of The Plea ” Facebook page this morning that Denny and Dermot did an interview and played “Oh Ah Yay” there in the studio of Today FM. Haven’t been to the Today FM site since John Barrowman did an interview with Ray Foley back in October 2011, but was hoping that I remembered correctly that the radio station website had a “listen again” feature. Which they did.

So found the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show , tracked down this morning’s appearance and scanned through both Parts 1 and 2 to find where in the broadcast D 2 ;) actually appeared (they’re on during the last 10 or so minutes of Part 2 if you want to find the original broadcast), something I’ve gotten fairly proficient at doing. Thanks to all of the Barrowman’s radio appearances I’ve recorded and uploaded over the last few years, I’ve kind of gotten the hang of finding the 5-10 minute interview segments located somewhere within a 2 or 3 hour radio broadcast. And I’ll be more than happy to do to the same thing for The Plea here, I just need to know WHEN they’ll be so I can catch them. ;-) And finding out in advance would be awesome; I usually like to record broadcasts live, since podcasts and replays don’t always contain everything that happened on the live shows. Of course, with the time difference between Ireland and North Carolina, that CAN result in me having to get up at the crack of early to record. And I’ve been known to do that more than once or twice too.

Anyway, here’s the clip from TodayFM this morning. I edited out the little NON Plea related interruption right before the song starts.:

My only complaint? I know TodayFM has a webcam (captured the video for the aforementioned Barrowman interview with it), why Why WHY was it not turned on while Denny and Dermot were there? Now THAT would have been cool! Maybe next time, eh?
